The Second Edition Readmanna Charity Golf Tournament was a spectacular event held on the 5th of May 2023, aimed at providing digital literacy tools to schools. The tournament was a collaborative effort of several organizations, including CreditRegistry with a shared goal of ensuring that every student, irrespective of their socio-economic status, has access to digital tools that are vital to their success in today's technology-driven world.
The tournament, which was held at the 18-hole course Ikoyi, brought together golfers from different backgrounds and industries, creating a unique opportunity for networking, building relationships, and supporting a worthy cause. The day was full of excitement, laughter, and competitive spirit, all for the benefit of building digital capacity for both teachers and students in selected schools.
The day started with a warm welcome from the organizers, followed by an exciting round of golf, where golfers put their skills to the test, vying for the coveted title of the tournament's champion. After the golf tournament, sponsors and golfers converged to participate in the program which included a warm address from the MD of ReadManna, and the launch of a platform for promoting digital capacity through the "Adopt a Teacher" program.
The founder of the ReadManna Initiative Mrs Edna Augusto spoke about the goal of the tournament. She explained that the event is being held to sponsor the digital educators conference to be held in August in Lagos for 1000 teachers to be trained and certified, and the golf tournament is being held to subsidize this training for educators.
The tournament saw CreditRegistry emerge as the champions, after an impressive display of golfing prowess. The team led by our Chairman Dr Fatumata Coker, demonstrated that their skills extend beyond financial expertise and were delighted to be the second time winner as returning champions from the first edition.
The real winners, however are the educators and students that will benefit from the tournament's proceeds. The tournament's impact will go beyond providing digital education and training; it will help bridge the digital divide and ensure that every student has an equal opportunity to succeed in the modern world.
The Second Readmanna Charity Gold Tournament was a resounding success, creating a lasting impact on the lives of young people in the community through their educators. As a bureau with corporate values of innovation and continous learning, it was such a delight to be a part of this initiative and we look forward to continuing to support initiatives like this, making a difference in the community, and providing equal opportunities for all.
